<a href="https://sites.google.com/site/foweyrivercanoeclub/about-us">Fowey River Canoe Club</a> is the South West’s top racing club producing paddlers of national standard across all age groups. We concentrate on the main competitive flat-water kayaking disciplines of Marathon (distances between 2 and 200km) and Sprint (200, 500 & 1000m) with our junior and senior paddlers attending competitions both locally and nationally. The location of the club offers fantastic opportunities, depending on tides, to paddle to Lostwithiel, Lerryn, Penpoll or down to Fowey harbour and Polruan.
It was a beautiful evening with an exceptionally high tide so we had lot's of water for all of the competitors in the wide range of craft and swimmers.
The water craft were very varied from the K1 and K2 Marathon Kayak's to Sit on Kayaks and Stand Up Paddle Boards.

Edible Insects can be used in a huge variety of different culinary delights. from modern classics, to mind-blowing flavour combinations, there is truly something for everyone.
Edible Insects can make innovative sides, fully-fledged dishes or conventional fare.
Why Eat Insects ?
1. Insects could be the solution to world hunger
2. They are highly nutritious. Caterpillars, for example, provide more protein and more iron than the same quantity of minced beef.
3. Insects release fewer greenhouse gases than traditional livestock
4. They’re everywhere
5. They are natural and sustainable. Mealworms, for example, survive on waste wheat chaff.<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4Xmwp5li-eAPseaTPlfQUppOHLDrj2vCbk8t2ZFHO2jvxCyxzOItZvRKnUoIh2G4IACRwqBM9LIKdEdoykxlN795cE65CvHI7AyLT6ZvCgSy7MAtl6ZWueqbLw0upLJ_TScL5xTKQUNc/s1600/Cornish+Edible+Insects.jpg" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4Xmwp5li-eAPseaTPlfQUppOHLDrj2vCbk8t2ZFHO2jvxCyxzOItZvRKnUoIh2G4IACRwqBM9LIKdEdoykxlN795cE65CvHI7AyLT6ZvCgSy7MAtl6ZWueqbLw0upLJ_TScL5xTKQUNc/s320/Cornish+Edible+Insects.jpg" width="275" height="320" /></a>ly

It is low in fat and cholesterol, and high in protein, making it the perfect alternative for the health conscious carnivore!
The Alpaca meat meat all comes from Hendra Farm a traditional smallholding set deep in the South East Cornwall countryside. The welfare of their livestock and the environment is a passion - they pride themselves on the care and attention of their animals and birds receive on a daily basis. Their reputation speaks for itself!

The sun is out and so is the Pollen at Purely Cornish we stock Local Cornish Honey produced by bee's from the Cornwall Bee Keepers association <a href="http://www.cbka.co.uk/"></a>, Liskeard Group.
locally made honey is a good way of helping with Hay Fever and allowing you to enjoy the summer some interesting honey facts:
Honey bees must gather nectar from two million flowers to make one pound of honey.
One bee would therefore have to fly around 90,000 miles - three times around the globe - to make one pound of honey.
The average honey bee will actually make only one twelfth of a teaspoon of honey in its lifetime.
A honey bee can fly as fast as 15 miles per hour.
It takes one ounce of honey to fuel a bee's flight around the world.
A honey bee visits 50 to 100 flowers during a collection trip.
Worker bees are all female.
Flowers have bright markings and strong smells to attract bees and other insects so that they will pollinate flowers. Some also have dark lines called 'honey guides' which scientists believe help insects find their way into the flowers.
A colony of bees consists of tens of thousands of worker bees, one queen and sometimes drones (male bees).
The honey bee is the only insect that produces food eaten by man.
Honey has always been highly regarded as a medicine. It is thought to help everything from sore throats and digestive disorders to skin problems and hay fever.
Honey has antiseptic properties and historically was often used as a dressing for wounds and a first aid treatment for burns and cuts.
